Loyal Orange Lodge 904
Plymouth

Welcome to the St. Augustine Loyal Orange Lodge 904. We are a group of dedicated Orangemen who live in, or near to Plymouth, Devon. The current Plymouth Orange Lodge was established by warrant on 17th February 1925, although lodges have always been present in the city since long before that date. At one point during World War One there were Orange lodges situated in different districts of the city and the Devonport lodge (LOL 297) had over 90 members serving in 50 different ships of the Royal Navy. All loyal citizens to the crown and to their country, regardless of ethnic origin, can become a cherished member of our lodge. The only stipulation is that you must be a Protestant, attend worship and be a loyal citizen. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month but the venue has recently changed and it is not permanent.

LOL 904 is one of the lodges that make up Plymouth District Number 64 of the Metropolitan province of the Grand Orange Lodge of England. Lodges in the Metropolitan Province are grouped into four districts - London District, Portsmouth District, Sussex District and Plymouth District. There are Junior Lodges, for the younger members, Ladies Lodges, as well as the Male Lodges. Lodges hold regular meetings, attend church services, hold parades and social functions. Lodges and Members are active within their respective communities by supporting charity work and other worthy causes. Lodge meetings and events regularly take place at Aldershot, Benfleet, Bristol, Brixham, London, Greater London area, Old Harlow, Lewes, Oxford, Petersfield, Plymouth, Rayleigh and Southampton. The Metropolitan Province is one of six Provinces within the Loyal Orange Institution of England. The Loyal Orange Institution of England is recognised as part of the World Orange Council which also includes the respective Loyal Orange Associations of Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Ghana and Togo. The Orange Institution is a worldwide brotherhood committed to upholding the Protestant faith and the principle of Civil and Religious Liberty for all.

"The liberties of England and the Protestant religion I will maintain."

William’s personal flag contained this motto and was embroidered in letters three feet long with the arms of Nassau quartered with those of England
LOL 904 also has a Junior Lodge which was established on 30 October 2004 when Junior Orange Lodge number 1 (JLOL 1) was opened by Brother Stephen Kingston, Grand Junior Superintendent of England. Nearly 30 children were in attendance. Peter Scott HDGC of LOL 904 was registered with the Grand Lodge of England as the Junior Superintendent of the newly constituted Plymouth Junior Lodge. Brother Neil Young is the current Junior Superintendent of the Junior Lodge. 2009 is a landmark year as the first member of the Junior Lodge has been admitted to the Orange Degree in the Senior Lodge.
